The Thai Garden Design team recently visited this Norwegian couples house in the mountains of Hua Hin, to investigate different hardscape types they would like to construct in their front garden. The couple wanted to be able to drive their motorcycle into the gate and up to the house, and so wanted some kind of concrete hardscape, with a nice finish. After discussion of the various options, they opted to have a dark slate paving.
Having excavated the proposed terrace, the team laid a reinforced concrete base. Once this was dry, slate pieces were sourced and the team got to work creating the jigsaw pattern in a crazy paved style. Pipework was also laid underneath the main pathway, so the team could also install an automatic sprinkler system for use when the owners were in Norway.
(Picture above: pathway coating in sealant, with channels dug, ready for the sprinkler pipework). The pathway was installed with a nice curve, up to the main house terrace, with plenty of space left for parking beside the entrance gate.
