Thai Garden Design recently designed and installed this raised hardwood decking at a new build in the hills of Hua Hin, Thailand.
The original plan for the home was to have steps down, into a grass area between the two buildings (the home, and a separate gym). The owner wanted to have a seamless transition between the two buildings, and so a raised decking would 'fill the gap' between the two terraces.
The deck is constructed on top of a treated hardwood interior frame, all held together with stainless steel screws. The deck boards were then laid length-ways, to run parallel with the pool, which was the owners preference.
The deck was then sanded down, and painted with a clear natural wood stain, in order to show the grading and colour of the wood beneath for a natural finish. This deck now serves as the perfect transition between the two buildings, and also allows easy access into the garden with steps down at each end.
