The Thai Garden Design team recently worked on a tropical ocean resort in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, India, to help the owners transform their bungalows into boutique garden areas that can be enjoyed by the patrons of the resort. Using only plants and shrubs that were available within the grounds, plus local material readily available like coconut tree stumps, driftwood, granite boulders, crushed shells and gravel, the team transformed each unit into a unique garden space; with differing foliage, vibrant colour and local natural materials, creating a huge change from the previously haphazardly planted areas. Patrons to the resort who came and left during the work period were all very complimentary about the new gardens.
Combinations of plants helped the design, coconut palms, cycas palms, heliconias, spider lily’s, many colourful crotons and various coleus and canna lily are just some of the plant varieties used to revamp and drastically improve the beauty of the resort landscape, and finished in only a matter of days.
