Thai Garden Design were invited to this new home at an award-winning housing estate in South Pattaya, to discuss and create a garden plan for the owners.
The garden was basically a rock and stone display, with some basic concrete pavers. Plants and trees were at a minimum, and the customer described how they felt in very open view to the rest of the street.
Also they were interested in building a rock waterfall, with small pond and stepping stones, with hardwood decking and shade pergola, to encourage them to spend time around the side of the house. The team got to work once a design and details were agreed.
All the old stones were taken up, and new border planting was installed, giving instant privacy from the street. New larger, darker stones were used in their place, with additional low maintenance planting. The pond itself is around 1.0 m deep, enough to host koi carp, which were re-located from another pond, closed during the installation. A nice sitting deck houses the concrete filter and filter medium, which helps to keep the water quality high, and clean. The pergola is another welcoming touch, offering an electric fan and light to help keep the owners cool, and sheltered from the elements when they choose to sit beside the pond. The waterfall gives off a constant water sound, which can be heard from the kitchen and lounge at the front of the home.
Finally, the team constructed this natural rock wall (above) along the entire length of the home, giving a lovely rustic look to the walkway, a feature which the owners were very happy with.
